Polyactal(POM) also known as acetal or polyoxymethylene. Form structure of polyacetal, it can divides into homopolymer an copolymer, the homopolymer is essentially a polyoxymethylenes molecular chain made from formaldehyde, while the copolymer is produced form trioxane or other comonomers. The homopolymer has slightly higher short-term mechanical properties and melts at a higher temperature, while the copolymer has higher continuous use temperature, great alkali resistance and is less affected by long-term exposure to moisture at an elevated temperature. Their chemical structure as followings:

Polyacetal is a highly crystalline, high performance engineering polymer that displays a broad range of properties, among the most notable brings low coefficient of friction, excellent wear resistance, high modulus, and resistance to many solvents and automotive fuels. Basic mechanical properties including high strength and stiffness coupled with food impact strength.

Low moisture absorption results in excellent dimensional stability and makes POM and excellent candidate for parts that must exhibit tight tolerance in moist enbvironment.

Characteristics:
Self-lubricated, excellent wear resistance, high fatigue resistance, outstanding creep resistance, good impact strength, high toughness, high hardness, excellent surface characteristic, high strength, high stiffness, superior dimension stability, excellent resistance to organic chemical and alkalies.
